This 426 HEMI Jeep Gladiator Is Back for More
Some builds leave the shop and they're finished.
This isn't one of them.
Last year, this Jeep Gladiator came through 3D Offroad for a complete transformation. We built it into a seriously capable off-road rig with an America’s Most Wanted 426 HEMI swap, upgraded suspension, steering, drivetrain components, wheels and tires, armor, and the supporting hardware needed to make everything work together.
Now it's back.
And this time, we're addressing something every HEMI-powered adventure rig could use more of:
Range.
A Quick Look Back at the Original Gladiator Build
Before getting into the newest upgrade, it's worth looking at where this Gladiator started.
The centerpiece of the original build is the 426 HEMI V8 conversion from America’s Most Wanted 4x4. It completely changes the personality of the Gladiator, giving the JT the power and torque you'd expect from a serious V8-powered off-road build.
But adding horsepower was only part of the equation.
The rest of the Jeep was built to complement that power with upgrades throughout the chassis, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and exterior.
The build includes components such as:
America’s Most Wanted 426 HEMI conversion
Heavy-duty axle and drivetrain upgrades
PSC steering components
FOX suspension
AntiRock sway bar system
Upgraded wheels and tires
Rock sliders and body protection
Additional off-road and interior upgrades
The result is a Gladiator designed to do much more than look good in a parking lot. It's built to actually be used.
And that's exactly why it came back.
The Problem: More Power and More Adventure Means More Fuel
A 426 HEMI makes a Jeep Gladiator considerably more fun to drive.
It doesn't, however, magically make the factory fuel tank bigger.
For a Gladiator that's being used for long road trips, remote trails, overlanding, and extended days away from civilization, fuel range becomes a legitimate consideration.
Stopping for fuel every chance you get works around town.
It becomes a different story when you're hours down a trail and the nearest gas station is nowhere close.
So for the next phase of this build, we added one upgrade that dramatically increases what this Jeep can do between fuel stops.
Adding an America’s Most Wanted 25-Gallon Auxiliary Fuel Tank
The newest addition to the Gladiator is an America’s Most Wanted 25-gallon auxiliary fuel tank.
Instead of carrying multiple external fuel cans or constantly planning a trip around gas stations, the auxiliary system gives the Jeep a substantial amount of additional fuel capacity integrated directly into the vehicle.
Adding another 25 gallons can make a massive difference on longer trips.
For a HEMI-swapped Gladiator like this one, that means more time exploring and considerably less time worrying about where the next fuel stop is going to be.
It's one of those upgrades that isn't necessarily the flashiest part of the build, but it can completely change how you use the vehicle.
How the Auxiliary Fuel System Works
The AMW auxiliary tank is designed to work alongside the Gladiator's existing fuel system rather than replacing it.
The additional tank carries the extra fuel while an in-cab control allows the driver to manage the auxiliary system when additional range is needed.
That means the driver doesn't need to stop, unload fuel cans, or manually transfer fuel on the side of a trail.
Everything is integrated into the vehicle.
For a Jeep built around long-distance adventure and serious trail use, that's exactly how an auxiliary fuel system should work.
Why an Auxiliary Tank Makes Sense on a HEMI Gladiator
A larger fuel capacity isn't just about going farther into the wilderness.
It also gives you more flexibility.
Long highway stretches between fuel stations become easier. Remote trails require less fuel planning. Multi-day trips don't revolve around returning to civilization every time the fuel gauge starts moving toward empty.
And when you've already invested in building a Gladiator capable of taking you far beyond pavement, extending its usable range makes a lot of sense.
It's another example of building the vehicle around how it's actually going to be used.
The Best Builds Keep Evolving
This Gladiator is a perfect example of something we see all the time at 3D Offroad.
A build doesn't necessarily happen all at once.
You might start with wheels, tires, and suspension.
Then comes armor.
Then steering.
Maybe eventually it's axles, custom fabrication, or even a 426 HEMI swap.
And after spending time actually driving the vehicle, you figure out what the next upgrade needs to be.
For this Gladiator, that next step was simple:
More fuel. More range. More adventure.
And we have a feeling this probably won't be the last time it comes back through the shop.
